Light and Color in Art
Color is an integral part of the reality which surrounds us. Each item becomes visible through light. Shadows are weak lights. Light and shadows help us conceptualize the dimension of items, the anaglypgh and color. Man began to use color in his creations since ancient times, as he realized that it comprises a substantial element of each construction and a determining factor in the process of synthesis. Nowadays, the capability of using colors is even greater through the use of computers.
This lecture will intepret the use of light and the evolution of color throughout the history of human creation, that according to Wassily Kandinsky: "Color is the key. Eye is the hammer. Soul is the piano with many strings.”
Leonarda Lamprianidou was born in Thessaloniki. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, at the art preservation department. After her return to Greece, she continued her studies in Fine Arts, at the department of Visual and Applied Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while her very first studies were in Economics at the same university. Since 1994, she has been participating in several group exhibitions and presented her work in eight personal exhibitions. Her most recent personal exhibition -“Water Trips”- was presented at Casa Bianca. In parallel, she teaches Drawing, Color, Principles of Composition and Art History to students of secondary education and to candidates for the University. She also publishes scientific articles related to Art teaching at the “Arts Education” magazine and she offers seminars to her colleagues.
