Gerovassiliou Wine Museum: meeting point of cultures

The day of 3 November is the Culture Day of Japan, which is a national day for the promotion of culture and of love for freedom and peace.

Saturday, 5 November 2011, the great grandchild of Japan's national poet Lafcadio Hearn or a.k.a. Yiakumo Koizumi (of Greek origin), will give a lecture on Lafcadio Hearn’s open mind and his Greek spirit. Mr. Bon Koizumi, professor of Japan University, will speak about his great grandfather, the writer that Japanese worshiped, thanks to whose work Japanese literature became well known to the western world.

Lafkadio Hearn (1859-1904) was born in the Greek island of Lefkada to a Greek mother and an Irish father. He traveled the world and lived an intense life. His work is considered the most interesting approach of the Japanese society, coming from a European writer and became the definition of the personality that bridges over complementary cultures.  

Sunday, 6 November 2011, the cuisine of the Japanese top chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa will create in Domaine Gerovassiliou, a dinner of high gastronomy combined to Greek wine.

Famous "Nobu" incorporates to traditional Japanese cuisine the influences, knowledge and experience from all places of the world that he has worked at. He is an international star of gastronomy.

The Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Hiroshi Toda, is invited to the events.
