European Music Day at Ktima Gerovassiliou
Friday, June 21, 2013, we celebrate music and we invite you to the estate’s garden at 19.30 to enjoy the duet “Duo Terpsis”, with works for flute and guitar from around the world.
The entrance will be free.
Music Day:
Music Day began to be celebrated in Paris in 1982, an initiative of the former Minister of Culture Jack Lang, while in 1985 the institution spread outside the French borders. Athens, Cultural Capital of Europe 1985, was the first city outside France to hold the Music Festival.
Within a few years, Music Day became a proper institution, a major European cultural event, held every June 21 in more than 22 countries, from Ireland to Kazakhstan and the Baltic countries to Cyprus.
Amateur and professional musicians inundate public areas, squares, streets, stations, parks and many more different spaces, presenting, selflessly, concerts covering the musical spectrum. Given so the opportunity for a European, cultural celebration that helps to develop cultural exchanges and collaborations among the young and established artists from different countries.

Duo Terpsis:
Duo Terspis is a professional chamber music ensemble, established in Thessaloniki in May 2007 by the guitarist Evaggelis Parasxou and the flutist Argiro Mountraki. Their motive was the love for chamber music, the aesthetic enjoyment between musicians and public, the artistic activities and the exploration of the repertoire for the specific combination of musical instruments. Since fall 2011, the new flutist of Duo Terpsis is Nikos Zisis. Duo Terpsis interprets music that addresses to everyone and not only to a specialized audience. Good music is everyone’s right.
The ensemble’s repertoire consists primarily of original compositions for guitar and flute and more rarely remakes. Basic principle is the presentation of works that are characterized by high artistic value and highlight evenly the interpretative virtues of both instruments.
