Ktima Gerovassiliou says farewell to summer and welcomes the new viti-vinicultural year with a documentary screening of Zacharias Mavroeides “ACROSS HER BODY” on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 8.30 pm, at the estate’s garden.

Few words about the documentary and the crew
Every year, on July 31, very few “fifteeners” return to the abandoned Monastery of the Assumption, on the island of Therasia, the little known twin sister of Santorini. For two weeks, they pray for the eternal rest of the beloved deceased ones and the health of the living, while preparing for the celebration of the Accession. In between, they gaze at cosmopolitan Santorini across the volcano while recalling the past.

"ACROSS HER BODY" records the slow-paced daily life of the fading tradition of "Fifteen". Through portraits of women returning to the monastery every summer for fifteen days, it explores issues of faith, identity and gender by correlating three distinct bodies: The "unblemished" body of Virgin Mary, the desolate body of old rural Therasia and the perishable body of women compose an ephemeral representation of post-war Greece.
