Distinctions

The unique blend syrah and viognier was rated with the exceptional grade of 94/100 marks and won a place in the 100 best wines of 2009.

The distinction was a result of blind wine tastings, which were organized during the last year. Professional wine-tasters of the US magazine have tasted more than 10.200 wines during the last 12 months.

Regarding Gerovassiliou Evangelo 2005 they noted:

Tight and black, this syrah-viognier, blend needs hours in a decanter to begin to reveal its myriad pleasures. First, there's the fruit, as succulent as the tiniest black raspberries plucked from the bush at the height of ripeness. Then there are the hints of licorice, the white lily scents, the saline minerality and wild gaminess. It feels as cool as the breeze at Evangelos Gerovassiliou's winery, perched on a slope in view of the Aegean Sea.
